Why coastal regions are cooler than plains?

Coastal regions are generally cooler than plains due to the moderating effect of large bodies of water, such as oceans and seas. Water has a high heat capacity, meaning it absorbs and releases heat more slowly than land. This results in milder temperatures along Coastlines, as the ocean temperature can regulate air temperatures, preventing extreme heat during the day and retaining warmth at night.
