The nursing standard way of making a bed has the primary goals of ensuring that the patient is able to rest in a safe, comfortable, tidy bed. After gathering the necessary supplies (sheets, pillows, etc.), the one preparing the bed must; lay the bottom fitted sheet onto the bed, spread a rubber sheet over top, and then finally put the top sheet on top. Once these sheets are on, the bed maker must make sure that they are tucked into the bed. Once this has been done, all that remains is to put the pillow onto the bed and leave toiletries like towels and face cloths nearby for the patient.
