It is when different elements are reintroduced.

Example: In :Of Mice and Men"

in chapter 2 Lennie gets a puppy. in chapter 5 Lennie kills his puppy.

in chapter 2 George warns Lennie to stay away from Curley's wife. in chapter 5 Lennie kills Curley's wife.
