That depends on the source of the information. There's a lot of mis-information around and often people have obvious or hidden motivations for pushing a particular view or answer. The best information comes respected authorities on a subject or from community projects where there is peer review ie others that confirm the information - wikipedia is a good example of this. Best advice is to surf around on the topic you're interested in and cross-reference information from many sources.
