Where do you write to get a California birth certificate?

You can get a copy of a California birth certificate by sending payment with an application to the California Office of Vital Records. An authorized copy can only be obtained by the individual in question, the parents of the individual, or certain people entitled by law to it. To get an authorized copy, you must have the application notarized. Otherwise, you can only obtain an informational copy.

You can also obtain a copy of a California birth certificate by contacting the County Recorder's Office in the county in which the birth occurred.
