Why were children killed during the Holocaust?

Children were mostly killed by being sent directly to the gas chambers. Or children in their teens would work alongside the adults and die of starvation or fatigue. The worst method ever was medical experiments on children especially twins. They would cut them open stitch them up and let them die of infections and they would kill babies also.
