How does ozone form in the troposphere?

Ozone gas (O3) is formed when oxygen gas (O2) is exposed to ultraviolet radiation (UV-C) in the stratosphere. Molecules of oxygen gas are made of two oxygen atoms. The energy of the radiation breaks the gas moecules into oxygen atoms, some of which then interact with oxygen gas to form ozone.
