Edison had a huge number of co-workers; indeed, research on an industrial level was one of his most important developments. Although Edison often took credit for inventions he had very little to do with, at least on a technical level, he was smart and shrewd enough to create a factory level research facility. From this "factory," his company was able to develop products that he could sell.
