What is the job of an apprentice?

an apprentice is a clan cat who has reached six moons (months). It is given a warrior mentor to train it and instead of its last name being kit it becomes paw. Its mentor trains it until it is ready to become a warrior when the clan leader chooses its name for it. Apprentices become warriors when they have trained long enough or participated in a battle with another clan
