Today, teenagers use the Word "perverted" to mean a broad variety of negative qualities they believe another person exhibits. In a sense, it is the same as being called any other name, meaning, it's the opinion of another person; it may or may not be true, however.

Being "perverted" typically has an implied sexual meaning. Actions that can be perceived as being "perverted" include, as examples:

  • Talking about body parts in a gross or sexual way.
  • Talking about sexual "conquests" or activities.
  • Asking someone else about his/her sexual activities.
  • Leering / staring at a person's breasts or genitals.
  • Trying to look under or lift up clothing in order to see underwear or body parts.
  • Staring at a female's cleavage.
  • Attempting to touch someone in a sexual manner.
  • Using unwanted touch or making advances toward someone.
  • Making lewd sexual jokes.
  • Being inappropriate.
  • Not having healthy boundaries -- rules by which we control what we do and say to others.
  • Doing lewd and illegal acts; for example, urinating or exposing oneself in public.
  • Grabbing one's own body parts in public.
  • Bothering another person who doesn't want to be bothered.
  • Telling inappropriate jokes with a sexual or sexist message.
  • Using double-meanings with Words.
  • Stalking someone.
  • Inappropriate teasing.
  • Bullying or bullying within a group toward one person, especially in a sexual context.

If you adopt the personal rule to always be respectful and decent in your Words, actions, and behaviors, you'll be ok.
