What are some problems with reconstruction?

Reconstruction faced significant challenges, including widespread resistance from Southern whites, which manifested in violent groups like the Ku Klux Klan. The lack of political will in the North and waning public support led to the withdrawal of federal troops, undermining efforts to protect the rights of newly freed African Americans.
