Why did Jesus ask Saul 'Why do you persecute me'?

Saul persecuted the Christians as they didn't believe the Jewish oral or written law. He was also afraid of how rapid the religion was growing and very envious of it. Saul felt it was his place to protect the Jewish religion and would do whatever it took to do it.

Saul persecuted and killed some of the Christians because of their beliefs.
