Walruses typically weigh between 1,500 to 2,200 pounds (680 to 1,000 kilograms) and can reach lengths of 10 to 12 feet (3 to 3.6 meters). Males are generally larger than females, with some males exceeding 3,000 pounds (1,360 kilograms). Their large bodies are supported by thick blubber, which helps insulate them in cold Arctic waters.
