1905 is not a rare date for Liberty Head nickels. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 04/2010:

Very worn condition - $3

Moderately worn - $5

Slightly worn - $12

Almost no wear - $49

Uncirculated - $71 to $1,080 depending on quality

This design is called a Liberty Head nickel, or often a V- nickel because of the V (Roman numeral 5) on the back. Values:
