What is the maximum effective range of a 22 short?

That will depend in a large part on what firearm the .22 short is fired from. In a rifle, it is about 50 yards. From a short barreled pocket pistol, about 15 yards, from a target pistol, about 25 meters. Please note also that there are high speed shorts, and low velocity shorts- all of which affect the answer.
