Some women don't want to worry about men bothering them and the woman prefers to stay single. Other women may be widows (no age limit) and wear the wedding band in memory of their deceased husband. Living together common law after a certain amount of time is considered being married so some women may received a wedding ring from their live-in mate. To them they are married.
