Hiram Johnson (born September 2, 1866 in Sacramento, California; died August 6, 1945 in Bethesda, Maryland) succeeded James Gillett as the twenty-third Governor of California, serving between January 3, 1911 and March 15, 1917, including the whole of 1914.
