Why is bedfordshire called bedfordshire?

The name is thought to have derived from a Saxon chief named Beda from a tribe of German migrants who traveled across Europe. They are first mentioned in the year 555AD. They were known as Pirates and Warlords. The Romans created military districts to try to contain their entry into England
