The Hapsburgs were Roman Catholic being Austrian not German by birth. The
descendants are still Roman Catholic or do not attend Church at all. The monarchy was abolished at the end of World War 1. There is no law that stipulates that the member of the Royal Family have to be Roman Catholics like the English Royal Family which is Anglican. Today, the European aristocracy is totally irrelevant in central and Eastern Europe. The Hapsburg palace is now a
museum in Vienna, Austria.
