What are the 4 major river of Virginia?

The four major rivers with their cities in order from north to south are:

(1) Potomac River - Alexandria

(2) Rappahannock River - Fredricksburg

(3) York River - Yorktown

(4) James River - Jamestown

I am a fourth grade teacher in Virginia. In my classroom, we remember the cities in order from north to south by using the mnemonic device Please Recycle Your Junk.

My students came up with the saying, "Fred likes to Rap." to remember that the city of Fredericksburg is on the Rappahannock River.
