What are positives and negatives on censorship?

Pros:

-Prevents corruption of children (violence, sexual content, profanity)

-Prevents offensive material including racism, sexism, etc.

-Prevents plagiarism and copyright infringement

-Hides military information that could be used by enemies

-And others...

Cons:

-Freedom of expression is compromised (1st Amendment)

-Takes away the right to know

-Can be misused/exploited to allow politically-motivated witch hunts

-Hides opposition, only broadcasting certain points of view

-If sex-related topics are completely censored it becomes difficult to teach children and teenagers about the dangers of HIV/AIDS. Imagine what would happen...
