Why did we choose the 11-11 date to celebrate veteran's day?

World War I ended on November 11th at the 11th hour. President Eisenhower thought it would be a good idea to pick that day for veteran's day. Since the repetion of 3 of the same number seems symbolic, Veteran's day was chosen on that day.
