Yes. I have trained myself quite hard in boxing and Martial Arts for 20+ years and I can tell you that hard training takes weight off fast and it is hard to maintain weight never mind gaining it. If you try and gain weight by over eating you cannot train as a fighter to optimal capacity and if you slow down to gain weight while you are eating you are going to suffer performance wise. Its a losing battle and weights dont help. The only way is to use drugs for weight gain whilst training very hard.
