Why is it dangerous to climb electricity pylons?

Because you can touch the live wires and the voltage can kill you.

It's quite unnecessary to 'touch' the live conductors. Approaching them within a few metres (depending on the voltage) will be sufficient for the high voltage to 'flash over', and inflict fatal burns. And if the burns don't kill you, the resulting fall will certainly finish you off!
