Why did Henry VIII annul Catherine?

He got a divorce with Catherine to marry anne, although Catherine refused the divorce and Anne was never divorced. Henry had her beheaded for "adultry" and for "bewitching" him, but he really just got bored with her and she hadn't produced a male hier (although she did have Elizabeth)
