Why did Amanda Blake leave gunsmoke?

She did not quit. She was fired by Executive Producer John Mantley. They had ongoing disputes over wardrobe and she disrespected him in front of the cast and crew while filiming the episode, The Lost. When her contract came up for renewal, he let her go.
