Jaguar and "problem free" don't seem to be realistic Words to use in the same sentence. They are stylish vehicles, but not very practical. 1990-1994.5 XJ's (both XJ6 & XJ12) are known as XJ-40's, and where blessed with numerous little headaches, Lucas electrical componets and the poorly designed door handle components are the most notorious. Then Ford Motor Company purchased Jaguar from British Leyland and the quality improved dramatically. So my OPINION is to look at 1994 1/2 models or newer for a daily driver. They are known as the XJ-300's and have had NO recalls and an ExcelLENT safety record. The are comfortable but not very fuel efficient. BUT as with most luxury imports, service and parts are expensive. There are MANY websites and Cyberstores to purchase parts and tools for the DIY'ers.
