First off, scientists, at least REAL ones, don't abuse the animals they use for testing purposes. Don't believe all the rubbish you might hear from animal protection and animal rights people - they exaggerate to make their points seem more powerful.

Scientists use animals like mice and rats and, yes, cute bunnies and such, to test medicines and other stuff to make sure that 1) it works, and 2) it doesn't kill you.

An 'abused' laboratory animal is of no more use to the scientist studying it than an abused cow is to the dairy farmer. It makes no sense for them to abuse the animals they need to study and get truthful scientific information from.

Millions and millions of people all over the world owe their lives and continued health to medicines whose initial research was carried out on lab animals like mice and rats.

Maybe not ALL scientists abuse animals during animal testing, but some sure do. First of all, this is a new generation, and there are new technologies to test out a product rather than having animals suffer silently with languish and agony in lonely barren cages waiting to die. Scientists have made up a micro chip where the results are A. more accurate and B. humane! The FDA actually says that most cosmetics still test on animals EVEN though it's not required. Testing on animals, in fact don't always give the perfect results, because they are animals and we are human.
