Was there justification for Britain and Frances policy of the appeasement?

The policy of appeasement adopted by Britain and France in the 1930s was justified by the leaders of these nations as a means to avoid another devastating conflict like World War I. They believed that satisfying some of Adolf Hitler's territorial demands could maintain peace and stability in Europe. However, this approach is widely criticized today as it ultimately emboldened Nazi Germany, leading to further aggression and the outbreak of World War II.
