How do you ask for a job as a pharmaceutical rep?

I recently met the mother of this guy that can get me a job as a pharmaceutical rep. She gave me his number and told me to call him up. I really want this job, I am currently a banker, I am a people-person, and I think I would be perfect for this job. But I have no clue what to say to him when I leave a message. Any ideas? Anthing would be great. Thanks! :)
