Can you see anything when you go to heaven?

Since medieval times, hell has been thought of by many Christians as a place of fire and torment, full of screaming, suffering souls. More liberal Christians recognise the incongruity of a physical punishment (fire) in a place they believe to be purely spiritual, and do not hold firm views on what hell could look like.
