If a Facebook group gets so many members will FB shut down the group they are trying to get rid of?

No, each group is entitled to their own free speech and can gather as many users as possible, however if the terms and conditions of the site are broken, then it is possible that facebook will take appropriate action after intially discussing the matter with the administrator.
