How did the months appear for our calendar?

The months of our calendar originated from the ancient Roman calendar, which initially had ten months, starting in March and ending in December. January and February were later added, making a total of twelve months. Many month names are derived from Latin, with some named after Roman gods and leaders. The calendar was further refined by Julius Caesar in 46 BC, leading to the Julian calendar, which is the basis for the modern Gregorian calendar we use today.
