Can remote desktop but not ping why?

If you can use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) but cannot ping a device, it may be due to firewall settings that allow RDP traffic while blocking ICMP (internet Control Message Protocol) packets used for pinging. Another possibility is that the remote system may be configured to respond to RDP requests but ignore ping requests for security reasons. Additionally, network configurations or VPN setups could also affect the ability to ping while still allowing RDP connections.
