What part did the Pharaoh play in ancient Egypt?

In Egyptian Times, the role of a "Pharaoh", was very complex. It was harder than that of the Absolute Monarch. The difference? Pharaoh's had religious duties too.

The Pharaoh, was the Head of Government. Like, the President, or Prime Minister of a country, the Pharaoh was deemed to always have the absolute answer to every problem, every possible sin to be done by Mankind.

The Pharaoh, was also the Commander in Chief. Like, the Governor of a country.They headed all wars, fought in many, (Of course, not too much. Egyptians only did so when they were at a severe disadvantage, which was also, very rarely), and even made plans for specific soldiers.

The Pharaoh was also like the Law Book. They knew what was a sin and what was not. That's what lead them to be considered a "God". They were divine, see, the living incarnation of Horus. When the Pharaoh died, it was to be a willing sacrifice, beneficial to the country.

The Pharaoh was also The High Priest of EVERY Temple!There were literally NO priests in Egypt. The Priests were really just the Stand-In's for the Pharaohs, since no person, nor thing, may be in every place at once (Just wait till Science proves me wrong there, LOL). All offerings in Egyptian Temples, were in the end, a sacrifice to the Holy King.

And lastly: Succession! Prior to the Pharaoh's death, they would make SURE someone decent would take their throne. It could be a hereditary based thing, but not mandatory. Several great Pharaoh's chose their children to be the next.

But that failed on occasion- They would prove weak. But other Pharaoh's took note of a distinct person's attributes and entitled them to being Pharaoh.
