Where is my tax return?

If you file a complete and accurate paper tax return and mailed it to the correct mailing address, and the IRS accepts your income tax return as you filed it then your refund will usually be issued within six weeks from the date it is received and accepted by the IRS.

The fastest and easiest way to find out about your current year refund is to go to the IRS gov web site and click and on left side of the page under Online Services choose the Check on Your Refund or on the right side of the page under Filing and Payments choose "Where's My Refund?" link at the IRS gov home page. To check the status online you will need your Social Security number, filing status and the exact whole dollar amount of your refund shown on your return.
