How harmful is silver nitrate?

If ingested by mouth silver nitrate is a deadly poison and only small quantity is enough to kill a person. If dilute solutions (1M) contact exposed skin, the skill will become dyed dark brown after it is exposed to ultraviolet light. This is only temporary until the skin cells dye and wear away to be replaced by new ones. This usually takes 2-4 days.
