How many alligators in Florida?

Any body of water here in Florida either is, was, or will be home to an alligator. They go in Swimming Pools from time to time, retention ponds, ditches, lakes, preformed plastic ponds that you buy at the hardware store, little puddles that only fill when there's been a bunch of rain, etc., etc. If it's water in our state, consider there to be an alligator in it.
