Is it illegal to go barefoot in public buildings?

It's generally not against the law, unless your town has a specific ordinance against it. The owners or security people can kick you out for it though.


The a security reason behind it. People with bare feet will be having injuries sooner or later in stores. Glass breaks in stores commonly. People who had stores learn that the sign that says no bare feet is the first thing they will put. It saves them time and money in lawsuits.
