If you are sent an invitation addressed to Mr and Mrs when the couple is getting divorced and the people who sent the invite are aware of the situation what is the proper way to handle this?

If you are all still friendly , go if you wish. The divorcing couple may just have one person attend, or you call the host/ess and explain you two are no longer accepting social invitations together anymore.
