the highwaymen were theifs who stole from the rich. They were called the hero of the poor as they stole from rich and gave the jewels to the poor. They often murdered people as well. Some highwaymen did it just for fun. But on the other hand some did it to safe the life for the poor not just walk everyday past them and see scattered bodies of death lying around
