After losing the 1960 presidential election to John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon returned to California, where he briefly considered his political future. He served as a partner at a law firm and became involved in various public speaking engagements. In 1962, he made an unsuccessful bid for the governorship of California. However, he eventually re-emerged in national politics, serving as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974.
