A cut flower may be able to live for a very short time in orange juice. But the sugar that provides the energy the flower needs will quickly begin to also provide a source of nutrients to bacteria. As they grow in the water, they will clog the stem of the flower, causing it to then wilt because it can no longer intake the water it needs.

This is why you should use only professional flower food in the vases of cut flowers. You can get packets of flower food from your florist.

A new flower can't grow from a cut-flower stem. But if a stem has a bud on it, as well as an open flower, depending on the type of flower, the bud may open as well.
