The Greek Word for baptism is ba'pti.sma refers to the process of immersion, including submersion and emergence; it is derived from the verb , " ba'pto, meaning dip. In The Bible, "to baptize" is the same as " to immerse."
The baptism of Jesus hinself as performed by John was his immersion in the Jordan, and was approved by Jesus' Father Jehovah. Read Matthew 3: 13-17.
So to answer your question, it is difficult to immerse someone in anything else than water. The meaning of immerse is "putting the whole body under water", according to the Oxford Distionnary.
