Why is tetracycline discontinued?

Tetracycline has largely fallen out of favor for certain medical applications due to the development of antibiotic resistance and the availability of more effective and safer alternatives. Additionally, its use can lead to side effects such as photosensitivity and gastrointestinal disturbances.
