Why do you think Jem scout and dill went to the trial even after Atticus specifically told them not to?

In "To Kill a Mockingbird", the judge appoints Atticus to defend Tom Robinson because he knew Atticus would take the case due to his commitment to the judicial system as well as his character. By appointing Atticus Finch, the judge assures Tom Robinson will have fair representation.
