What is a squareroot?

The square root of a number is another number that gives you

the original number when you multiply it by itself.

Examples:

Square root of 100 is 10, because 10 x 10 = 100.

Square root of 49 is 7, because 7 x 7 = 49 .

Square root of 9.61 is 3.1, because 3.1 x 3.1 = 9.61 .
