How long can you leave the nuva ring out?

A woman normally leaves it out for seven days during the ring-free week.

Other than at that time, if the Nuva Ring has been out more than three hours, rinse it in cold or lukewarm (not hot) water, reinsert it, and use a backup Birth Control method, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, for the next seven days.

It's best to leave the ring in during sex to reduce the risk of this kind of accident.
