Who can apply for an American Express Centurion card?

The Centurion card issued by American Express first saw the light of day in 1999. Ever since it was introduced, it has been a very exclusive card. Only a select few people receive it, and only by invitation. One cannot apply for Centurion, one is invited by American Express. Those who are eventually invited, are platinum card holders who travel frequently and generally have a vast income.
