remove the valve cover on # 1 cylinder make sure both intake and exhaust are closed....line up the sprockets with the chain off make sure the dist rotor is pointing to #1 in the cap and make sure you have removed # 1 spark plug....at this point check in the plug hole for #1 that the piston is all the way up on the power stroke....After all this checking and rechecking you are now set to
at #1 remove the plugs from #1 and from # 6 as they are companion cylinders in the 18436572 firing order...meaning when #1 is on the top piston up both valves are closed.....# 6 cylinder will also have the piston all the way up....from this point everything else will go as planned...Dist, cam & crank sprockets markings facing each other(cam down crank up) Be sure to silicone the front cover seals where they meet the oil pan rails to avoid any oil leaks.
